Some of the women who were sent home in Government’s retrenchment exercise are getting some help under a Haynesville Community Group and Holder’s Hill Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church joint project.
The recently laid off workers are among the beneficiaries of the programme which is aimed at empowering participants by providing them with structured training
in upholstery and event design at the former Haynesville police outpost.
Dale Haynes, district pastor for the City, North District of the SDA said the church pledged to continue offering assistance to the community wherever possible.

“We are here for the long haul and we will find something else to do when we finish these classes. We have other things in the pipeline to explore that they can also do at our church,” he said.
Details of the project were provided to the media today during the presentation of a cheque from the church to the group, to facilitate the making of school uniforms for ten needy children in the community.
Making the presentation, Pastor Haynes said the money was raised in a golf tournament he hosted. The uniforms will be made by a seamstress who resides in the area.
