Fire Officer Carson Boucher from the Barbados Fire Service (BFS) has proven he has great skills in the kitchen, having walked away with the Barbados Fire Service Association Fire House Chef Champion Trophy.

Boucher, of the Bridgetown division of the BFS, who after an hour in the kitchen proved to the judges with his cornmeal cou cou, salt fish and salad dish that he was the best of four other competitors.
Along with having to defend his title next year, Boucher will be representing Barbados in the regional leg of the cook-off.
“I am happy that I have won the first of this competition; it shows that I have skills. At first I thought it was going to be a little tough; but it was okay,” Boucher told Barbados TODAY shortly after his win.
The four other competitors included Troy Gibson who prepared breadfruit cou cou and pork stew; Simon Bourne who offered vegetables and chicken breast; and Peter Christie, a breadfruit pie and salt fish dish. Gibson, Bourne and Christie represented the Grantley Adams International Airport division of the BFS.

The cook-off, organized by Fire Service Association chairman Adrian Brome and his team, was also part of the 60th anniversary celebrations of BFS and the 50th anniversary of the association.
